Human Resource Management: Lessons of A Coffee Lover

Human Resource Management! .........hmmm. How do you blend your coffee?

Is it the standard coffee machine which comes with a premix of coffee, milk and sugar and available at one press of a button? Does this coffee you love? I hope not. At least the coffee lovers won’t.

Similarly, would you want people in your team in the same way as coffee? Every person has the same calibre, capacity, attitude and weaknesses. Even if you try, it won’t work.

Coffee lovers want their coffee to be the blend for a unique taste like the business leaders want their team to achieve unique results.

Coffee requires being blend at the right pressure and right temperature. Many people boil the coffee while it only needs to be hot enough you want to drink and they spoil the taste of the coffee.

Remember, the pressure is more important than temperature. You can get desired taste from each coffee bean.

If, an employee goes through the right amount of pressure (Work motivation) and right temperature (Never get too angry and use harsh words), he can bring the desired results. Any time the pressure or temperature is not rightly matched. Coffee spoils the taste and so the employee.

Coffee has a different taste but when it is mixed with sugar or milk it can give even a variety of tastes. So, the employee in the team motivated and blends and mixed in the right way can achieve various targets.

Even the best coffee bean, not blend in the right pressure, temperature or not mixed with the right amount of sugar and milk may spoil your coffee.

Being a coffee lover, you should know what taste you want in your coffee and use the right blend. So, the business leaders should know what they want to achieve and utilize the talent in the right way in the right team to get the desired results.

Enjoy your coffee. cheers!

Smart Travelling- South Africa

                                                         South Africa Part-1 (Cape Town)

Hi Guys,

In current world, economics of marketing is very important and cutting the travelling cost in a smart way is crucial factor for business travellers as well as holiday visitors.

I am sharing my experience of last business trip to South Africa.

1. Sim card: South African sim cards are available in all South African airports after immigration in arrival hall itself. You can buy it at the airport or in the city.

Hotels near Bay area

   2. Where to stay in Cape Town: If you are a business visitor prefer staying in the business district of the city centre there are many good options available.if you are a holiday visitor you can choose a hotel near the water front or for leisure you can also stay in hotel or rent an apartment near the bay. here you will have good view of the sea as well as the mountains. there is Victoria Mall near the Waterfront and this place lots of shopping area. There is even one good Indian Restaurant.

Beach in cape Town
3. Safety: Cape Town is much safer city in South Africa in comparison to other South African cities. I would still suggest you to avoid walking on the streets alone or showing your camera, mobiles and other valuables in public.

4. Local Travelling in Cape Town: I would suggest to avoid public transport in Cape Town and better if you use the Taxi as they are safe. I had called a taxi by calling the local taxi nos. and I used to travel in Taxi. Their service is fast, prompt and very safe. I wanted to go the table bay and near to the beach i just made one of the taxi driver friendly with me. In general people are honest. A little generosity like offering the coke to taxi driver when I was buying one for me and asking to have lunch flattered the guy. I had used his personal taxi afterwords for my personal city tour and he showed the places. I asked him to be with me when I went to the beach and I felt safe in that area because of him. Having locals with you is safer in any place of the world.

5. Airport: Airport is far from the city and traffic becomes heavy during evening. So, If your flight is in the evening, better check in advance about how much time it will take to reach to airport.

Wish you happy Journey.

Smart Travelling- UK

                                                         International Travelling- UK

Hi Guys,

In current world, economics of marketing is very important and cutting the travelling cost in a smart way is crucial factor for business travellers as well as holiday visitors.

As the technology is leading the world in various ways little planning before travelling can not only save the cost but also save the time as well the hassles of acquiring  in the last minute.

I am sharing my experience of last business trip to United Kingdom.

1. Lyca Sim: In British Consulate after you submit your documents for the visa while going out you can see Lyca mobile counter. You can buy Lyca Mobile sim cards at the same rate as you can buy in UK (sometimes it is cheaper also. It depends upon the exchange rates and the promotions of Lyca). You can get micro sim as well as the normal sim. Extra advantage is that you can insert sim in your phone and can start as soon as you reach in UK, even before Immigration. So, you can inform your      friends and family in UK that you have arrived. You can also surf the net in your smart phone. This sim also has lesser cost calling back to India from UK.

2. Oyster card: You can also buy oyster card inside UK Consulate which can be used in Tube as well as in Bus transport systems of UK. you can buy at any Tube station in UK but buying from India you can save time and cost is same.

3. Local Travelling in London: 'London Tube' is a good app to move around London if you want to use local train. 'Bus guru' is great app if you want to travel by bus with in London. London buses are Double Decker and if you just want to enjoy and roam around in the city using upper front seat is really enjoyable and you can a good view.

London Bus
4. King's cross St. Pancreas and Euston: From this place you can take 6 tube line. Domestic trains to         London and  International Trains are also available from this place. So, staying near about this place can be good idea if, you have to travel a lot and want to use public transport. If you have to go out of London within UK using trains are a good  idea. They are fast, comfortable and cost effective. They are good even for International Travelling.

5. London Taxi: London Taxi is an icon in itself. They are comfortable, spacious and unique. Infect I fell in love with the Taxi and wanted to bring one to home.

6. Safety: UK is as safe as any other country but beware about the places you visit and do take care about your valuables like mobile, wallet etc.

Also visit to http://www.visitbritain.com & http://www.visitbritainshop.com for more details and buying tour tickets and other products or just to see more information about the cities you are likely to visit.

STUNTMAN- Management Story

The story is from my e-book 20 Phases of SUCCESS available to download at
http://bookstore.bookcountry.com/Products/SKU-000970621/20-Phases-of-SUCCESS.aspx

You would have seen events like bike stunts in which STUNTMAN jumps over many cars (or crosses a long distance).  Stuntman jumping in the air looks astonishing and amazing. Jump may take less than 1 minutes but it has days/months of efforts behind it. Stuntman is the FRONT FACE (Sales person) for the audience but at the back there is team of technicians and operations guys who checks the distance, makes the slanted platforms for take-off and landing, bike technician, decides the approximate speed of the bike & of course the distance bike has to travel before take-off.  There can a medical team who take care of the STUNTMAN’s health and confirm him to take the jump.

If jump is successful it make audience happy and whole team enjoys, shares and cheers the success.

Suppose any of the technicians or OPERATIONS TEAM does an error, jump would not be possible and it may be a CRASH landing. Or suppose his company provides him a bike which is less powerful (INSUFFICIENT INFRASTRUCTURE).

Stunt man (sales person) faces the anger and disappointment of the audience as well as his own company.  In short it looks Stuntman has failed.

Moral of the story:  Choose a company which has a Strong OPERATION TEAM and INFRASTRUCTURE and leave the company which you feel is weak otherwise you may end up some day with a CRASH.
